I had a huge breakthrough a-ha moment last night as I sat with the hoodies that I’d already sorted:

The style that I had before coming to New Zealand no longer fits who I am now.

This was such a biggie for me. My logical mind then rationalised that of course it wouldn’t be! Because I’d gone through so many major life changes in the past 10 years since leaving London and my former home! I started listing the major life events year by year, then looked at the list.

Way back almost 30 years ago at university, I’d first come across the Holmes-Rahe Stress Test: https://www.stress.org/holmes-rahe-stress-inventory. My total was consistently high throughout the last decade.

No wonder.

I guess my transition graph would look like some steep upward curve.

I feel like I’m finally settling down here in this part of New Zealand as my new home and most significantly, our house-build is also finally nearing completion.

In the last decade, I’d experienced:

• Loss of home;
• Relocation to a new country;
• Meeting your significant life partner;
• Buying your own family home;
• Childbirth;
• Motherhood;
• New career;
• Building our own home;
• Near-death experience during an illness;
• New business.

I think that was it.
